MEDIA — The Media Business Authority will host the annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop.

Everyone is invited to celebrate the arrival of 2023 in the heart of “Everybody’s Hometown.” Festivities are planned for two hours from Dec. 31 at 10:30 p.m. to Jan. 1 at 12:30 a.m.

Attendees can book a reservation at any one of the State Street District’s popular taverns or restaurants and make a night of it in downtown Media. For more information, go to http://www.VistMediaPA.com to view a comprehensive list of dining options, featuring cuisines from around the world.

The excitement kicks off when a DJ starts spinning party tunes at 10:30 p.m. on the steps of Spasso Italian Grill at State and Jackson streets.

Just before midnight, the countdown begins, and Delco’s own fabulous glowing orb descends from more than 100 feet above the buildings, thanks to the crane sponsored by Pro Tree Services.

Parking is free in the Baltimore Avenue Garage. The event is hosted by The Media Business Authority, which provides advocacy, resources and support to businesses located in the borough of Media.

The weather looks pretty favorable for the event. AccuWeather is showing mild conditions with the temperature in the mid-40s, though there might be drizzle and showers at that time.

Nashville artist Audra McLaughlin, a native of Delaware County, will perform her Country Christmas Acoustic Show, Friday, Dec. 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. inside the heated indoor Ice Garden Bar at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino & Racetrack, 777 Harrahs Blvd., Chester.

The country soul singer-songwriter gained international recognition as a member of Team Blake on Season 6 of NBC’s, “The Voice,” and then went on to receive blockbuster reviews after selling out concerts and high-profile venues across the U.S. and England.

The ice bar is at Harrah’s newest award-winning attraction, the Flight on Ice skating rink.

Recently opened, the 6,000-square-foot outdoor skating rink is located underneath the main valet porte cochere right out front of the casino’s main entrance.

The Delco River Rink is a winter wonderland in a well-lit, secure environment. filled with fun for the whole family, including affordable skate rentals, free surface lot and garage parking right on site, festive music, lighting, food and beverages and more.

Norwood American Legion holds New Year’s Eve party

The Norwood American Legion Post 507, 20 W. Cleveland Ave., Norwood, will host a New Year’s Eve party, 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31 until 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.

White Dog Café welcomes new year with 34th annual Pajama Day Brunch

The New Year will welcome the 34th anniversary of White Dog Cafe and three-decades plus of their annual New Year’s Day brunch that invites guests to come to brunch in what they wore to bed.

Even the team members at the White Dog Cafe locations will be donning their pajamas as they serve patrons their first meal of the new year. New Year’s Day Brunch will be offered at all four White Dog Cafe locations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including the Delaware County locations in Concord and Haverford Townships and Wayne.

The Rocky Run YMCA, 1299 W. Baltimore Pike, Middletown Township, will host a family-friendly Countdown to Noon event Saturday, Dec. 31, 11 a.m. to noon.

The free daytime celebration on New Year’s Eve will include fun for all ages, including family group fitness classes, arts and crafts and more, plus a ball drop at noon.

No registration is required and everyone is welcome.

Jamey’s House of Music presents New Year’s Eve celebration with Minas

Jamey’s House of Music in Lansdowne will present Minas, one of the top Latin jazz quartets in the nation, at its annual New Year’s Eve celebration, Saturday, Dec. 31.

Doors and kitchen open at 10:30 p.m., with the show beginning at 11:30 p.m.

Admission is $40 in advance and $45 at the door and includes complimentary champagne.

The Minas Quartet returns to Jamey’s for the annual samba into the new year.

The quartet plays rousing upbeat originals and traditionals, leading up to an exciting countdown to midnight with everyone playing percussion and noisemakers brought from home. This party always sells out, so people are encouraged to buy tickets in advance.

The full bar, powered by Conshohocken Brewing Co., will be open all night serving a dozen ice-cold small batch brewed craft beers, hard cider, assorted wines and cocktails. The kitchen will be open all night with the full ala carte menu available.

Minas Quartet takes Brazilian and American roots to create a sound that is fresh and innovative, from ballads tinged with melancholic traits of blues and choro, to folk coasting on the subtle coolness of a bossa nova pulse. Our Community Cup Coffeehouse offers New Year’s fun for all abilities

Our Community Cup Coffeehouse at Tree of Life Church, 933 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, will have a mini New Year’s Eve party 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 30, with holiday karaoke all night long.

On Friday, Jan. 6, the New Year’s celebration will continue with a crazy hat night competition, from 6-9 p.m.. People can wear their craziest hat or make one at the coffeehouse.

This “different kind of coffeehouse” is a joint project of the Tree of Life Church and New Avenue Foundation. It primarily serves as a gathering space for the community and safe place for young and old people with disabilities, including autism and Asperger’s, and their friends and families, to listen to live music and enjoy social interaction.

Local church offers New Year’s Eve paint party for children

The Noon Year’s Eve Paint Party for children, hosted by Michelle’s Art Pad, will be held Saturday, Dec. 31 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Church of Christ, 1530 Fourth Ave., Folsom.
