The best skating conditions are usually on cloudy days or after sunset, with little to no wind and temperatures between 25°F and 45°F. Warmer, sunny days are still safe and enjoyable, but the ice can get a bit soft or slushy as it starts to melt. On the flip side, very cold days make the ice extra hard, which is still safe but not ideal for smooth skating. In short — for the best glide, aim for cool, calm, and cloudy!
